Finally!

Women's instinct worked really well with the news we have ever received last Monday:) For the past few weeks i have been feeling something's going to happen that will surprise me and it did surprise not only me but my husband most especially! Yes, we are expecting!Finally! After a long time trying, waiting and more trying and more waiting, that blessing finally came to us!

A day before i found out, I already bought some HPT kits because i want to be prepared in case my menstruation goes m.i.a. I was supposed to have it a week before but I prevented myself to check right away in fear of getting a negative result which has been happening for the past 2 1/2 years! yes, you read it right! almost 2 1/2 years we have been waiting!

So come Monday morning, i woke up early to do the test and voila! 2 lines appeared:) i went out of the bathroom and told my mum that i could possibly be pregnant!:) then i hurried back to our room and woke my husband to show the result. He was still half-asleep when i started crying and telling him that this could be a sign of what we have been praying for.

So that day after work,I went to have myself checked in the hospital and a day after, my doctor confirmed it to me! Couldn't be happier after i heard her say congratulations!:)

I'm on my 5th week and so far, I am feeling great! Things are starting to sink-in more and more everyday. For now, I will just take things one at a time and cherish this wonderful moment and prepare myself for another chapter in my life.

Next week will be my initial check-up and I hope all will go well! :)

Dinner: Lumpiang Shanghai (Filipino style Spring Roll)

Before my mum came here, I usually do my grocery and food shopping at Lottemart. It is a huge shopping/supermarket here in D.7 where you can buy most of the things you need in the house. However, the quality of the fresh meat and especially seafood are incomparable to what you can buy at the local market. Back home, we normally buy produce from the local market because of the abundance and the freshness. Since my mum is here, I know she'd rather wake up early in the morning to visit the local market here. We have been doing this for almost 4 weeks now and I can say that i am very happy with what we have bought so far.

This morning, i found "lumpia"(spring roll) wrapper!:) I may sound weird to other people since VN is very popular with all variety of spring rolls in the market. But if you are used to frequenting the supermarket, you are aware that you cannot buy this particular wrapper there. So when i saw this in 1 of the stalls, i immediately told my mum that we are going to have "lumpiang shanghai" (Pinoy's version of spring roll) for dinner!

This is a no-fuss recipe that i learned from my mum which I actually enjoy preparing every time!:)

Ingredients:
* 1/2 minced pork
* 1 tbs minced garlic
* 2 eggs
* chopped spring onion
* salt and pepper to taste

* Mix all the ingredients together and sit for about 10 minutes to make sure the flavor blends well.
* Put a teaspoon of the mixture onto the wrapper and simple roll it.
* Fry until golden brown!

Happy Sunday!

Missed blogging lately as I have been swarmed with so much work!:) it's almost the end of term at school so everybody's been occupied with papers! In 2 weeks time, I, my husband and my mum are flying to Singapore for a much needed break! School will be off for 2 weeks and so we will be spending my first 4 days away to the Lion City!

For now, i'll just make sure i will be able to finish all the paperworks!

Have a good weekend!

Nanay's Birthday in VN

Nanay arrived here last Saturday for a much awaited vacation. She will be here with us for quite sometime which I am so grateful for!:) woohoo!!! She is celebrating here 66th birthday today but since Paolo is meeting deadlines again, we have decided to postpone our planned dinner for the weekend. Instead, i treated her to an ice cream night with Tetet and a little pampering afterwards. I also got her a very nice bouquet of flowers which i think is the first time i have done ever! For the past 8 years, i have not been celebrating her birthday with her since i am away from home. So i think, this year is my lucky year to celebrate it with her all by myself (without my siblings!). I get to be with her on this very special day of her life.

(mocha fudge and oreo nut)

My mum is a character, if i may say! She is feisty, funny, spontaneous, generous, nice, kind and impatient at times, but we LOVE her to death!! These are the characteristics that make us love her so much! I am the youngest and I know i am lucky to have her as my mother. We may not be as expressive as some other mothers-daughters i know but we know in our hearts that no matter what, we are always by each others' side.

Happy Birthday Nanay and we LOVE you heaps!!
