Fruit Platter tonight

I am quite lucky to be living in a country where tropical fruits are abundant and are dirt cheap! Tonight, I am having a fruit plate of dragonfruit, mangosteen and pomelo! When we moved to Vietnam several years ago, I was introduced to this lovely fruit called dragonfruit. I grew up back in Manila where I was not exposed to this strange looking fruit but:) I first tasted this when i arrived here in HCMC and I was greeted with a welcome basket of fruit from our school. I did not like dragonfruit at the beginning but that was changed overtime, when it is served almost everyday at school. I saw how the children devoured every little slice on the plate, so I was hooked! Btw, the dragon fruit i am eating right now was given to me by my student's mum:)

The mangosteen on the other hand, i bought from the fruit lady waiting everyday at the bus station. I have been looking for her for weeks but couldn't seem to find her and alas the other day, I spotted her at the same place she used to wait for her customers. I try to buy fruits from her instead of the supermarket because of the price difference:) A kilo of mangosteen from her only cost me 1.50$ (30,000vnd) but if I buy in the supermarket i would have to shell out 3-4.50$ a kilo. And t say that her produce is far more sweet than what i have bought from the grocery!:)

I have been craving for some pomelo since last week and I am unable to visit the sueprmarket to buy me some. So last weekend, on my way to pay the bills, I headed to a small grocery shop and bought a piece of this fruit! I was a bit skeptical to get it because i don't know if it will be sweet or sour, and luckily, I got one that is quote sweet to my taste! I never dared to buy an unpeeled pomelo, because back home, i was told that peeling and accidental scarring of the fruit's flesh will give you a sour and bitter taste of pomelo.I do not know where that story came but my mum insists that it is true:) But here in Vietnam, people are treated lavishly in simple ways like being able to buy peeled fruits from the local market or the supermarket. You just only need to be careful with washing them thoroughly!

I am trying to eat healthy for the little one :) and i know he/she is a very happy little baby now that mummy is eating fruits for him/her.

Happy tummy, Happy baby!
